The island of Gran Canaria, the resorts of Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas in particular, is well know for its beautiful sand beaches. The city of Las Palmas also has a couple of great beaches. You will find four major beaches within the city limits - Playa de Las Canteras, Playa de Las Alcaravaneras, Playa de la Laja and Playa del Confital.
